Turning that frown upside down at work

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” ― Dalai Lama XIV

Work is our life. But it is also what makes people really unhappy. It is very common to feel sad about your work. Or even feel a hit of unhappiness as soon as you reach work in the morning. But are we supposed to live with that? NO. There are ways to be happy at work. Let’s have a look at some of them.

The first thing to do is to stop labeling things as good or bad. Nothing is ever absolutely good or bad. These are just relative standards we have set for ourselves. If you are going to step into the office remembering that your work has been bad lately, you feel hung over about it all day. Instead of choosing extremes, view every outcome in a neutral light. Realize when you mess up but do not create an issue about it. Don’t aim to be perfect. The whole point of your happiness is your satisfaction.

What most people forget to do is to forget the negativity. If you are going to mope about how so and so reason ruined your work, you are your own enemy. Negativity will only make you more and more frustrated and unhappy. Learn to recover fast from the hardships you faced and look forward to the future of happiness.

Another very important idea is to not let others get to you. A majority of people are unhappy because they let co workers ruin their spirit. Jealousy, anger and grudges are not the way to a healthy lifestyle. If you are going to feel these type of emotions, you will never truly be happy no matter how much you excel at work.

The best way to be content with your work is to find your inner passion. Nothing will get you motivated and happy like what you are passionate about. Find that regarding your work and if your work is not it, switch to what you like best. People who are stuck doing work they have no interest in will not only lag behind but will also be frustrated.

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius

Lastly, think about the future. You may be neck deep in trouble with your work but it will not last forever. All adversities pass. It is futile to waste time worrying when you can be thinking about how to move forward. Keen interest to excel in future will give you the energy and drive that is oh-so essential to be happy. Real happiness is about rising above the small details that you let ruin your day.

Remember to smile, it is the instant way to feel happy.

Join and be happy ever after.
