The one interview question that can change your life

Interviews are the one chance future employees have of dazzling their bosses, most of us get stuck in the standard rut when we are answering interview questions. One question you must always answer or try to get to answer is “Tell me about the first experience in your life when you realized that you had the power of change or the power to do something meaningful”

While at first glance this question may seem irrelevant or maybe even pompous, it is the one which will make you stand out from the crowd.

Take the initiative: Try to answer it whether or not they ask you, maneuver it into the conversation or take an indirect approach to answering it because it will show your skills to the person you are talking to. Think about your accomplishments and what has shaped you, what makes you unique and what you can bring to the table.

Use it: Tailor the question to address skills they might be looking for in you. Take this opportunity to shine, identify what they need from you and go about convincing them that you can do it with this question.

Find other perks: This question will not only help you show off any specific skills but it will also help you showcase your conversational, interpersonal and general confidence skills.

How to bring it up: Most interviewers ask the interviewee to tell them more about themselves or ask them if there is anything left at the end of the interview, take this opportunity to talk about this if you haven’t already.
